Jayne’s preparing to leave her office when a member of the Holby City board arrives to tell her that the board want a crisis meeting at 8am sharp wanting answers about the Tan family.
Tension between Faye and Jac reaches boiling point with Jac commenting on any mistakes Faye makes. Faye confronts Jac and tells her to leave Joseph and her alone. Jac cannot stand the fact Joseph is happy without her.
Jayne and Linden face the board who are giving them a seriously rough ride. Jayne defends their actions; it’s a humanitarian case, how could they turn their backs? The twins need to be treated near their parents and they’ve got the money to pay for it. The board don’t understand why they’re even contemplating doing it at Holby. They want to move the Tans to a specialist hospital that is better equipped in London but Jayne explains to the board that Holby has the facilities and the staff to guarantee the best possible treatment for the twins. The board are sceptical of Jayne’s decision and she isn’t helped by Linden’s aggressive outbursts.
Faye receives a phone call from Greenlands. Jac sees her talking on the telephone and when she sees Jac standing next to her, she hangs up. Faye walks away and Jac picks up the receiver and presses redial to hear “Greenlands” on the other end.
Donna needs to be taken seriously if she ever has a chance of becoming a scrub nurse. Elliot starts to take Donna through some medical theory in his very chaotic but brilliantly Elliot-like way. Donna looks flummoxed but tries hard to impress Elliot with a new patient. Unfortunately her old ways reappear and she makes more mistakes than ever.
Joseph confronts Jac and tells her to stop meddling with his private life. Jac defends herself saying that she didn’t intend to offend and that Faye has got it wrong. Joseph doesn’t believe her wants and her to stay away from them.
Meanwhile, Jayne informs the board that she’s completely committed to the course of action with regards to the Tans but her audience is sceptical. She adjourns the meeting. When the board reassembles Jayne crosses her fingers. Jayne finds Connie and asks her to join her in trying to prove that they are the best team to handle the twins’ separation. Connie wants to prove to Jayne that she should have consulted her instead of Linden to head the meeting. At the board meeting Connie plays her trump card – if they do this operation, they’ll be eligible for more funding. That swings it. It’s a unanimous vote from the board and the Tan family will stay.
