Princess Diana's clothes collection

6 months ago 24th Apr 14:00

A collection of Britain's Princess Diana's clothes have gone on show in the US.

Outfits belonging to the princess - who tragically died in a Paris car crash on August 31st 1997 - were put on display yesterday (23.04.08) at the Tampa casino in Florida and will be there until May 2.

The collection will then go to the Hard Rock Hotel in Hollywood, Florida, on May 4 until May 10.

The exhibition was thought up by Tampa businesswoman Maureen Rorech Dunkel, who bought 14 of Diana's gowns a few weeks before she died.

After her death, Dunkel created The People's Princess Charitable Foundation and worked with the Smithsonian Institution to design the original 5,600-square-foot exhibition of the dresses.

Her first exhibition, 'Dresses for Humanity', toured cities around the world from October 1997 to June 2001.

This second show includes six of the 15 dresses from Dunkel's collection. Organisers expect more than 50,000 people to see the dresses at the casinos.
