Britain's Prince Philip took a 51-year-old pair of trousers to a tailor to be altered recently.
The royal ordered the baggy 50s-style garment be changed into something more contemporary by Savile Row tailor John Kent of Norton & Sons.
The trousers belong to a suit made of hard wearing worsted cloth, which has a striking grey and brown herring-bone stripe, and have now been re-fashioned into slimmer legs.
Patrick Grant, one of the company's directors, is quoted in Britain's The Daily Telegraph newspaper as saying: "John has been making the prince's clothes for many years and has a royal warrant.

"About six weeks ago, the prince sent him a pair of trousers that he wanted re-cutting to give a slimmer, more fashionable look.
"The prince likes substantial cloth. He certainly gets plenty of wear out of all his clothes."
The prince appeared at number 33 in a list of Britain's best-dressed men compiled by GQ magazine recently.
