Britain's Duchess of Cornwall has helped deliver meals on wheels.

Camilla visited a pensioner during a trip to Ballater, Aberdeenshire - where she is known as the Duchess of Rothesay - to mark the beginning of Community Meals On Wheels Week by seeing the service in operation for herself.

She helped carry 93-year-old Alexander Irvine's meals into the house and shared a glass of whisky with him while his food was being cooked.

Alexander later said the duchess was "very nice".

We have been researching why there has been this decline in meals on wheels, and one of the things to come out is that people's perception of it is quite outdated.

Camilla also met representatives from the National Association of Care Catering (NACC), which provides support for the meals on wheels service, and was shown how the food is stored.

The duchess seemed incredibly interested in what she heard and asked several questions, including where the food is sourced from and its nutritional value.

NACC chair Sue Ullmann said: "We have been researching why there has been this decline in meals on wheels, and one of the things to come out is that people's perception of it is quite outdated.
