Bob Dylan Inspired By Burns....

Bob Dylan was inspired to take up songwriting after he read a verse by Scottish poet Robert Burns.

The folk legend was asked to name his greatest influence as part of a campaign to celebrate musical icons by record store Hmv.

And he chooses a section of Burns' classic poem A Red, Red Rose as the biggest inspiration of his career.

The verse includes the lines: "O my luve is like a red, red rose/ That's newly sprung in June/ O my luve's like the melodie/ That's sweetly play'd in tune."

Other acts to contribute to the My Inspiration project include Paul McCartney, Elton John, and former The Jam frontman Paul Weller.
