Razorlight's own inspiration

1 month ago 06th Oct 13:15

Razorlight's new album is inspired by their previous records.

The band have recently been in the studio recording 'Slipway Fires', and say they drew influence from the success of 2004's debut album 'Up All Night' and second effort, 'Razorlight', which was released in 2006.

Frontman Johnny Borrell revealed: "People say it every album - difficult first album, difficult second, ah, tricky third, ah, fourth but for me, writing-wise, it was like exploring the shadows cast by the success of the first and second one."

The 'America' singer also claimed the band were surprised at how well the writing and recording process went.

He added to BBC 6Music: "Razorlight in pleasure to make shocker. Yeah, it was really good.

"We wanted to record it quickly, not over-produce it or overthink it too much. We felt like we had the strongest songs we've had so far, and when you've got that material there's not a lot else to do but just go in and record it."

'Slipway Fires' is due for release next month.
