Pierre is going to be the next big think in music, take our words for it! The guy is not only talented but he's also refreshingly honest. Pierre tells FemaleFirst what's wrong with the charts at the moment and how he is going to change things.
What have you been up to recently? I've just found out that I've got a 30 venue mini promotional tour coming up so I'm getting ready for that, running through the set and writing some more songs.
Wow, that's good news about the tour then. Yeah it's really exciting! I can't wait to get out there. I'm very kind of spontaneous when I get on stage, you never know what you're going to get with me!
Where are you going to on the tour? I'm not too sure yet, it's going to be places like Blackpool, London.
The new single Broken is out next month, what's it about? Basically I wrote the chorus first and I wrote a story around that about people who are in love and one thing leads to another. It's a typical love story, I didn't actually write it on experiences I've had but I have thrown a lot of emotion and life experience in there.
Lauren Pope has remixed the single, how did that come about? I'm friends with a friend of hers, Maria, who's a model as well and a couple of months back I was living in London and I was always out on the social scene. There's little circles and groups and Lauren was in one of them, she's great fun. The funniest thing, when I first met her I was walking down the stairs trying to act really cool, as you do and walked to fast and tripped. I literally fell down the stairs and I hurt my knee and almost knocked her over! She looked at me and was like "hmm ok"! It was so embarrassing, she won't let it go. Every time she sees me she talks about that!
What do you think makes you different from other artists in the charts at the moment? I think, unlike most artists, I'm not under the thumb by the label. Others don't say it as it is, but with me I'm very opinionated, I say what I think and I write my own music which is quite of a big thing. Also, I think pop should occupy the space between entertainment and responsibility and for too long it's been in the hands of critically acclaimed indie-rock bands and I think music should be about happiness and positive. It should show the better things in life. These indie rock bands they tend to have a lot of really somber, down to earth songs that are really gritty and real. They're very sort of accent based and music should be flexible. I love pop, that's what I am, I'm trying to bring it back with a positive message.
