Vivienne Westwood Talks Credit Crunch Fashion

Vivienne Westwood has spoken out about the impending recession and insists she isn't fazed about it.

The designer, who was fresh from receiving the prestigious Medal of Excellence, at the Walpole British Luxury Fashion Awards, spoke out about the credit crunch hitting the fashion industry.

She said: "Times may always be hard but British fashion has always been eclectic, it's all about not looking like anybody else. There is a status in wearing your old favourites over and over until they grow old. It's all about looking glam, not buying cheap rubbish."

Westwood is clearly true to her word as her SS09 collection was all about reusing and recycling old trends to make them new and fresh.

She also gave out her top tips for beating the dreaded credit crunch in style, telling the Daily Express: "Women should try on their husband's jackets and even boxer shorts for size as outerwear."

"Wearing political badges is also a great look and kerchiefs worn as knickers can be fun for the disco or the beach. You can also tie tablecloths or even blankets around yourself to look good."
