MICHAEL STIPE'S HALLOWE'EN FIRE
MICHAEL STIPE missed celebrating Hallowe'en in New York last week (31OCT05), because his apartment caught fire.
The REM frontman had a green parakeet costume designed for him by writer DOUGLAS COUPLAND and planned to wear it at a special party - but was forced to stay home and battle the blaze.
A spokesperson says, "No one was hurt in the fire."
Instead of abandoning the bizarre outfit till next year (06), Stipe wore it
to the Nightlife Awards ceremony in Manhattan on Sunday night (06NOV05).
