Work has begun on another 'X-Men' sequel.
20th Century Fox bosses have hired 'Gossip Girl' creator Josh Schwartz to pen a script for 'X-Men: First Class', which is reportedly set to focus on the younger members of the team - Iceman, Rogue, Angel, Colossus, Jubilee and Shadowcat - who have all appeared alongside Hugh Jackman and Halle Berry in the previous movies in the franchise.
It is also rumoured that an alternative storyline, focusing on the early years of characters such as Cyclops and Beast, could be the subject of the movie.
However, Josh, who also worked on creating hit US teen drama 'The O.C.', has reportedly turned down the chance to direct the film.
Lauren Shuler Donner, who produced the other movies in the franchise, will return to her role behind the camera alongside 'X-Men: The Last Stand' writer Simon Kinberg.
Further spin-off movies are currently in the work, with 'X-Men Origins: Wolverine' due for release next May and work currently being completed on 'X-Men Origins: Magneto'.
It is not known if any of the franchise's original stars will feature in 'X-Men: First Class'.
