Estelle’s knife campaign

Estelle has thrown her weight behind a new programme warning children against Britain's knife culture.

The American Boy hitmaker is supporting the War On Knives series, to be shown on Britain's Sky1 channel, in a bid to curb the current crisis of knife crime in London.

And the singer has first hand experience of how stabbings can affect people; a number of her relatives have been attacked.

She says, "People say, 'It's easy for you' but I came from the same background. I've had family members stabbed. You have a physical and mental pain of seeing that person in that position."

Other celebrities joining forces to promote the awareness programme include R&B singer Ne-Yo, rock offspring Kelly Osbourne and British pop star Will Young.
