A fourth 'Scream' movie is to be made.
The Weinstein Company have the rights to the movie, and a press release described the next installment as "re-starting the 'Scream' franchise."
The company later said: "The 'Scream' franchise has become a cult classic. Together, all three movies have grossed over $300 million at the box office, just in the United States alone. The fans have been asking for a fourth 'Scream' movie for years and we're finally giving it to them. As far as details go, we're only in the planning stages and we may not get around to 'Scream 4' for quite some time, but rest assured, it will happen."
Courteney Cox and husband David Arquette are reportedly interested in reprising their roles as Gale Weathers and Dewey Riley respectively.
Neve Campbell is unlikely to return if her past comments are anything to go by.
She has previously said: "We were really lucky with the Scream films to actually make a good trilogy, I think it's very challenging to find other films that have done that properly, but I think it was a good idea for me to stop there."
The last of the horror films was released in 2000, and was less favourably received than its predecessors.
